“First, help me never tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me JUST ENOUGH to satisfy my needs.”
Proverbs 30:8.
This is a brave prayer for anyone to pray. Although this is only part of the entire prayer, it speaks out for what a lot of people are not willing to give up : the ability to live comfortably.
“Second, give me neither poverty nor riches!” , Soloman says.
It is harder for those that are financially secure to depend on God. In fact, if you’re reading this right now, you are richer than a large portion of the world for just owning a computer. If you have enough money to provide security, then it’s a great deal harder to put faith in God for everything you do if you’re comfortable with living; if you don’t need anything; if you don’t have to worry about retiring, how well your kids will live, or just about food to get through the week.
So I pray that God makes me needy for His love. I pray that he only gives me just enough of what I need here on earth, so that I can depend on him more than I have been. I pray that he makes my life uncomfortable so I’m able to glorify him MORE. & I pray that you pray the same thing
“Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.”
