“Who am I, That the eyes that see my sin would look on me with love, and watch me rise again?”
We have such an amazing God that gives and takes away, for beautiful reasons. About 56 youth were able to go on a mission to help repair broken homes in Florence, SC thanks to Him. Lives were literally changed this past week in that town.
People who owned broken homes with no money to fix them randomly recieved a knock on the door a few months ago, with an amazing opportunity to be offered. People who couldn’t afford to fix their homes now had a chance to trust a group of kids accompanied by 4 adults or so to repair their homes for no cost whatsoever. —-Just consider, if you needed something, how amazing would it be if someone just knocked on your door to offer it to you for FREE?—- If that didn’t begin to show an evidence of God to them, I don’t know what would. It also took some faith to believe in this mission, that it wasn’t just a scam from some random people going around door to door.

“Give to those who ask, and don’t turn away from those who want to borrow.” [Matthew 5:42]
While working all week, we also spent time with the families that lived in the homes. Whether it was praying with them, talking to them, or just waving at them, we saw them very often while working on different parts of the house. God moved all 8 families this past week, and it was truly such a blessing to them (to have repaired/safe homes) and for us (to see God work miracles in other peoples’ lives). Our home owner ended up crying and thanking us so much, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a happier person to have money for food and a roof that doesn’t leak.

I think this week God has taught me how to love, more than anything. (Whether or not they deserve what you have to give.) And I’m thankful for that, because love can be carried into all parts of anyone’s life.
“If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would be of no value whatsoever.” [1 Corinthians 13:3]

“There are three things that will endure—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” - 1 Corinthians 13:13
After seeing this little section of poverty in this town, a man gave a long speech about more serious mission trips involving much more serious situations one night during supper. This is a miracle in it self because of all the time I’ve spent praying about a mission trip to serve others in greater need. I’m happy to say that this summer, I’m 90% sure I’ll be serving in El Salvador to help build a homeless shelter for children… God works in amazing ways.
